Anna Ledwoch Presenting at AI Fest

AI Fest: 12-13 October 2021, virtual

Anna Ledwoch, Data Scientist at Geollect, will be presenting and on the panel of AI Fest.

AI Fest is a UK conference series run by Dstl that brings together science and technology and the end user communities to explore the transformational impact of AI on defence and security.

Speakers from the Ministry of Defence, key external international and national partners, and leaders from industry and academia provide a range of perspectives using real case studies and practical experience to highlight lessons that help attendees understand the successes and challenges of delivering AI into operational use.

Anna’s Background

Anna is passionate about applying machine learning to extract insights from text. Over the past few years, there was a significant improvement in the field of natural language processing, enabling better machine translation, information extraction, and many others. However, state-of-the-art models have been shown to manifest systematic gender, racial, and religious discrimination, often amplifying biases present in the data they are trained on.

Anna has developed a strong interest in the topic, with the focus on challenges and limitations surrounding the use of AI. She is currently working as a Data Scientist at Geollect, developing tools for analysing text data relevant for the defence sector.

Anna’s educational background includes a PhD in Complex Systems and an MSc in Software Engineering, both from Cranfield University. She also holds a BSc in Computer Science from Silesian University of Technology, Poland.
