Hey there!  I’m Mark and I am quite a recent addition to the Geollect team. Having joined in October 2021 as a Geospatial Analyst I have worked on many of the platforms we provide which has expanded my geospatial skill set. From mapping regional dialects to summarizing geopolitical situations means every day still has the ability to challenge and surprise me.

My background  in river surveying meant I was out on site up to 5 days a week in all weathers. GIS featured in this but I always knew there was more that could be done with it, and it was ultimately the skill set that was going further my career.

Starting with Geollect in the shadow of Covid 19 meant certain measures had to be taken to avoid the spread,  protect colleagues and the business. Whilst working from home had its limitations I felt instantly connected to my team and company where everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. I dreaded being isolated while starting my new job but my colleagues helped me at every turn. Opportunities to get together as a team when restrictions allowed were great to establish face to face relationships rather than purely via Zoom/Teams.

Having recently attended the ESRI UK Conference which has inspired me to explore new working practices and provide a fresh insight into how to use the mapping platform more effectively.

Being part of Geollect which strives to promote innovation, as well as a fun, social atmosphere, has enabled me to feel part of the team from day one and I look forward to the projects I and the GIS team get to work on in the future.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, socializing with friends, sports and going to the gym.
