Geollect Team in Focus – Tom Jenkins

I was fortunate to join Geollect as an intelligence intern for an initial month in-office, translating to an online working environment thereafter. The team couldn’t have been more welcoming, encouraging and supportive. The multi-disciplinary, tight-knit unit created an environment which enabled me to hit the ground running, getting immersed in all kinds of investigations and tasks that reflect the company’s dynamic and diverse opportunities. This carried through into the virtual environment. Every member of the team is so willing to help, mentoring through the various processes in their remits, helping paint a more comprehensive picture of the fantastic services and products that the Geollect team provides.

With my third and final year reading a BSc in Security, Intelligence and Investigations at the University of Cumbria coming to a close, it has been an excellent opportunity to complement my learnings with the fundamental open-source (OSINT) and geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) components that drive Geollect investigations and litigation support. Learning skills from some of the best at what they do has indeed enlightened me as to how one translates these skillsets into a working environment. My dissertation has explored the value of human analysis and an intelligence framework within social media intelligence (SOCMINT). Working alongside a team that applies human analysis to the intelligence picture assiduously was undoubtedly an inspiration for the research. It was enthusing to work with such talented people with a multitude of academic and practitioner backgrounds – witnessing this collaboration created a very motivational and all-inclusive work environment.

Aside from work and academia, I enjoy various sports and hobbies, including football and fishing, as well as enjoying the beautiful Cumbrian outdoors. I am (un)fortunately a Carlisle United season ticket holder and life-long supporter!
