Data Scientist (Python)

£30-40k (dependent on experience) |Job Types: Full-time, contract

Job description

Geollect is looking for a data scientist with skills in Python, and preferably experience with AWS, to form an integral part of the geospatial development team. Data scientists with experience, or interest, in back-end python development/architecting (e.g., managing AWS environment) are particularly encouraged to apply.

You will work as part of a dynamic and close-knit team building new and proprietary approaches to solving multiple problems across the industry. Your work will directly contribute to products that add value across customers from insurance to government. You will be working primarily with geospatial data (position updates from maritime vessels), but also a range of open source, commercial (e.g., weather), and proprietary datasets.

The data scientist will work closely with the rest of the team (data scientists, and front-end and back-end developers) to discover relationships in data, “patterns of life”, and anomalies; the data scientist may also help to shape the front-end visualisations if they wish.

Essential technical skills

Python Developer (Back-end)

Job description

Geollect is looking for an individual who specialises in Python and familiar with AWS environments. You must be self-motivated, happy to proactively engage in new projects, and be keen to experiment and utilise new languages or libraries. We are looking for people who are excited to collaborate on innovative and impactful projects that have a truly global reach.

​The selected candidate will work on multiple projects across multiple sectors, providing ample opportunity for growth and personal development. GIS analyst - entry level

Job description

Geollect is looking for an ambitious candidate who has a passion for GIS, loves a good challenge, and wants to be part of an exciting, rapidly growing company. The successful candidate will form an integral part of the geospatial analytical team, working on multiple projects across a diverse range of sectors.

We are looking for someone who can embrace each challenge with enthusiasm as a team player or independently with a strong will to succeed. You will be required to analyse and interpret multiple data layers using innovative techniques to assist in the automation and quality control of Geollect’s suite of products. You will leverage all available datasets, including, but not limited to, satellite imagery, infrastructure data, news and social media, maritime vessel locations, third-party APIs and crowd-sourced data. The analytical team are looking for relationships in the data, patterns of life and anomalies to provide powerful insights within a comprehensive operating picture to help our clients identify operational risk and opportunities. You will also work closely with the data scientists, data engineers and web developers.
